The slumping economy has cut U.S. auto sales by 8 percent during the first five months of the year. Ford says high gas prices are sending consumers away from trucks and sport utility vehicles toward more fuel-efficient cars. Earlier this year, Ford announced corporate-wide buyout and early retirement offers for U.S. hourly workers, but only 4,200 took the offers. Bail is set for a Maryland man accused of burning down his home to avoid mortgage foreclosure, and experts say that arson as a way out of financial woes is becoming a national trend.

The real estate market is slightly cold these days across much of the country. If you hope to sell your home for a decent price, you need some factor that makes it stand out from similar homes around you.

We are living in difficult economic times and this has created what is commonly known as a buyer’s market as far as real estate is concerned. This is especially the case in areas such as Florida, where home sales can be difficult to achieve. In the Sarasota area for example, home prices have dropped by over $100,000 in the last two years and some houses have been on the market for several years.

It was one of those listing appointments you could tell was going to be a struggle when it came to price. I had already asked the seller what they thought their home’s value was, and it was about 10% higher than my CMA was suggesting. They had a nice home, though, tastefully decorated with some value-added upgrades including an overdone but succulent master bathroom for that neighborhood and age/style of home.

Real estate is a joint effort between the agent or broker and the clients they represent. In order to achieve success, both parties must understand the market in the same way. The 10% theory of sales is one such area that the agent and client must both understand.
